Q: I heard that Stronger Than Dirt is breaking up. Is this true?
A: Yes.
Q: Why?
A: Rhea is retiring from singing in December 2011 and the rest of the band doesn't feel like starting over with yet another lead singer.
Q: What does "Stronger Than Dirt" mean?
A: It means we get out even the toughest stains from your finest stinkables.
Q: Where did the band name come from?
A: It's the last thing Jim Morrison mutters at the very end of the Doors song "Touch Me." They in turn got it from an Ajax Laundry Detergent jingle. It's also a Grateful Dead song that I've never heard. Colgate owns the copyright for the phrase, but we own the servicemark.
Q: Really?
A: Yes.
Q: You're kidding.
A: That's not a question.
Q: How long have you been together?
A: Since November 1997. You do the math.
Q: Do you guys do parties, weddings and such?
A: Yes, if you pay and feed us.
Q: Do you guys play (insert song) by (insert band)?
A: Never heard of it. Check our song list for a general idea of what we do.
Sarcasm #1: If you request a song that we don't know, repeatedly saying "Come on, you gotta know it..." instantly gives us the ability to play it. Happens all the time.
Sarcasm #2: If our drummer knows your song the rest of us can "just follow him" on our instruments and vocals. This works especially well on songs we've never heard of.
Q: Freebird!
A: Sure! Click here!
Q: Who does the web page?
A: John.
Q: Who does those stupid emails?
A: John again.
Q: What stupid emails?
A: Join our mailing list and you'll find out.
Q: Did Rhea really go into labor on stage?
A: Yes. In 2004 Rhea timed her contractions while singing the third set of the evening, finished the gig, packed her gear and drove herself 50 miles to the hospital. We tried to get her to give birth on stage, but she overpowered us and got away (she's really hard to hold down).
Q: How many kids does Rhea now have?
A: As far as we can tell, five, but that could change at any time. |
